She has contributed with Urban Sketchers since its beginning, has been an instructor at several Urban Sketchers symposiums around the world and has organised many sketching workshops both in Italy and abroad. What she enjoys most about drawing on location is the interaction with people. Sometimes it happens spontaneously, other times she seeks it out by asking strangers questions. We’ve all seen how people love to stop and watch someone drawing: that’s our chance to talk to them!
Holding a sketchbook is a very powerful yet gentle and respectful tool for engaging with people.
We will be based on a busy street or square in Barcelona as if it were a stage or a film set and interview those who don’t mind stopping. We can also set up an “interview place” for those who agree to be drawn and interviewed.
Alternatively, you can listen to a conversation between two or more people and describe a group scene. We will Include the words we hear using balloons as in comics or on the side of the drawing. You are not the one who’s explaining the story, you are just listening and documenting it.
