The group of Urban Sketchers Barcelona was created in the year 2011 as a local comunitiy of the international movement Urban Sketchers with the intention to enjoy the practice of direct drawing from the reality we have around us, with meetings in Barcelona and surroundings and following the Urban Sketching manifesto:
1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live, and where we travel.
3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. We support each other and draw together.
7. We share our drawings online.
8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
On 2013 they organized the IV Simposium Internacional de Urban Sketchers and in 2017 they were constitute a non profit association to facilitate the permisions with the administrative bodies as well as to open doors to new opportunities and activities.
The association’s objetives are:
- To promote, dinamize and support events that contribute to the diffusion and the educatioin around sketching.
- To promote and develop the artistic, narrative, educational as well as social value of the sketching.
- Develop pedagogic activities for children, young people and adults through schools, universities, non profit associatioins and civic centers.
- To keep and develop a net of relationships promotint the exchange of ideas and habilities using information techology and comunication.
